Advantages of Bus Topology
- Low cost – Cabling costs are reduced and only a single cable is needed.
- Easy to install – Connecting devices is simpler than other topologies.
- Flexibility – New nodes can easily be added or removed.
Disadvantages of Bus Topology
- Difficult to troubleshoot – If there is an issue on the bus, then the entire network can be affected.
- Limited scalability – As the number of connected devices increases, the performance of the network can be diminished.
- Vulnerability – If the main cable fails, the entire network will cease to function.
In conclusion, Bus Topology is a low cost, easy-to-install network architecture that is suitable for small networks. However, it is not suitable for larger networks, due to its limited scalability and vulnerability.
