What is cloud computing, and what does it do for IoT?

Cloud computing is the delivery of computing services—including servers, storage, databases, networking, software, analytics, and intelligence—over the internet (“the cloud”). Cloud computing provides a simple way to access servers, storage, databases, and a broad set of application services over the Internet. It's a cost-effective solution for businesses since they don't have to purchase, manage, and maintain their own physical servers and data centers.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a term used to describe the growing network of physical devices that are connected to the internet, allowing them to send and receive data. As more and more devices become connected, it’s becoming increasingly important for businesses to find ways to effectively manage and analyze the data they receive. This is where cloud computing comes in.

By leveraging cloud computing services, businesses can collect, store, and analyze data from IoT devices without having to invest in expensive physical infrastructure. By storing and analyzing this data in the cloud, businesses can quickly and easily gain insights into their operations, allowing them to make informed decisions and optimize their performance. Additionally, cloud computing makes it easy to scale up or down depending on the needs of the business, as well as provide increased security and compliance with data governance regulations.

In summary, cloud computing is an essential tool for businesses that rely on IoT devices to gather data. By utilizing cloud computing services, businesses can quickly and easily store, process, and analyze data from their IoT devices, allowing them to make better decisions and optimize their performance.
