Google AdSense is a great way to monetize websites, but choosing the right type of ads is essential if you want to get the most out of it. Two of the main types of ads are CPM (cost per mille) ads and CPC (cost per click) ads. Knowing the difference between the two can make all the difference when it comes to maximizing earnings.

CPM Ads

CPM ads, sometimes referred to as cost-per-impression ads, are paid for each time an ad is viewed on a website. This means that the advertiser pays the publisher a certain amount each time their ad is viewed. For example, an ad might be priced at $5 CPM, which means that the advertiser pays the publisher $5 for every 1,000 times the ad is viewed. With CPM ads, the publisher will earn a certain amount for every 1,000 views, regardless of how many clicks the ad receives.

CPC Ads

CPC stands for cost-per-click and works differently from CPM ads. In this type of ad, the publisher is only paid when someone actually clicks on the ad. This means that the advertiser is paying for each click the ad generates, not just for each time it is viewed. For example, an advertiser might pay $0.50 for every click the ad gets. This type of ad is more effective for advertisers since they know they are only paying for actual clicks, but it is less profitable for publishers since there is no guarantee they will get any clicks.

Which One Should You Use?

The best type of ads to use depends on your own goals and situation. CPM ads are a great way to generate income with relatively little effort, since they pay for each view and you don't have to worry about encouraging visitors to click. However, CPC ads tend to be more profitable since you only get paid if someone actually clicks. It's important to experiment with different ad types to find what works best for your site.
