DIY Project: Build and Program Your Own Arduino-Powered Luxo Jr.
If you’re into robotics, then you’ve probably heard of Luxo Jr., the adorable anthropomorphic desk lamp from Pixar’s 1986 short film. With a few simple components, you can build your own version of this classic character with an Arduino board. And in this project, we’ll show you how!
What You Will Need
- Arduino Uno Board
- Servo Motor
- Lamp Shade (optional)
Step 1: Assemble the Components
The first step in building your Luxo Jr. is to assemble the components. Start by screwing the servo motor onto the base and attaching the Arduino board. Then attach the lamp shade to the servo if desired.
Step 2: Connect the Wiring
Once the components are assembled, it's time to connect the wiring. Connect the servo to the power supply, and then plug in the Arduino board. Then connect the servo to the Arduino board using jumper cables.
Step 3: Write the Code
Now that everything is connected, it's time to write the code for your Luxo Jr. robot. We won't go into the details of this step, but basically you'll need to write code that will allow the servo to move in the way you want Luxo Jr. to move.
Step 4: Test and Enjoy!
Once you have written the code, it's time to test it out. Turn on the power and watch as your Luxo Jr. robot comes to life! Once you are satisfied with the results, you can enjoy your new robotic friend.
Congratulations, you've just built and programmed your very own Arduino-powered Luxo Jr. robot!
