What is Class B IP Address?

A Class B IP address is an Internet Protocol (IP) address within the range of 128.0.0.0 to 191.255.255.255. It's used for medium-sized networks and provides 16,384 IP addresses. It's a subnet of the larger Class A address but it goes further in assigning IP addresses. Each Class B address space can support up to 65,535 IP addresses.

A Class B IP address is similar to a Class A address in that it has two components. The first part of the address is a network identifier and the second part is the host identifier. With a Class B address, the first two octets are used as the network identifier while the last two octets are used as the host identifier.
