What is a Class C IP Address?

A class C IP address is a type of IP (Internet Protocol) address that is typically assigned to home users, small businesses, and other devices that are part of a Local Area Network (LAN). Class C IP addresses range from 192.0.0.0 to 223.255.255.255 and each address consists of four octets.

What is the Range of a Class C IP Address?

The range for a Class C IP address is 192.0.0.0 to 223.255.255.255. This range is often referred to as "non-routable" because the addresses cannot be used in the public domain, or across different networks.

What are the Benefits of Using a Class C IP Address?

Class C IP addresses are beneficial for a variety of reasons. Firstly, they allow for easier network identification and management because the address range is limited to 256 IPs per class, making it much easier to understand which addresses are connected to which network. In addition, the fact that most class C IP addresses are non-routable prevents potential security threats from occurring and keeps the LAN more secure. Lastly, these addresses enable local communication between devices on the same LAN, simplifying the troubleshooting process if any problems occur.
