Using Google Maps for Directions
Google Maps is the go-to app for directions in many cities across the world. Using Google Maps, users can get step-by-step directions to any location, no matter how obscure. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to use Google Maps to get directions:
Step 1: Access Google Maps
Open the Google Maps app or visit www.google.com/maps and enter an address, landmark, or other recognizable location into the search box.
Step 2: Enter your destination
Once you've entered your origin location, click on the drop-down menu in the upper left corner of the map to select ‘Directions’, then enter your destination into the next field.
Step 3: Adjust the map settings
From there, you can adjust the map settings to show the optimal route, avoid highways, tolls, or ferries. Click on the three-dot icon in the upper right corner to pull up these settings.
Step 4: Get step-by-step directions
Once you've selected your route, press the blue ‘Start’ button near the top of the page to receive step-by-step directions. You can also select the public transit option to get instructions for bus, train, or other methods of transportation.
