The Founding of Android Inc. – Andy Rubin, Rich Miner, Chris White, and Nick Sears
Android Inc. Founded by Andy Rubin, Rich Miner, Chris White, and Nick Sears
In 2003, four tech innovators came together to form Android Inc., a software and technology firm based in Palo Alto, California. Andy Rubin, Rich Miner, Chris White, and Nick Sears were the four who made up the founding team of the company.
Rubin had previously worked at WebTV, and was also a co-founder of the Danger corporation. Miner had previously worked at General Magic and had co-founded Wildfire Communications. White was an entrepreneur, investor, and software engineer, while Sears was a senior engineering director at T-Mobile. Together, they formed Android Inc. to create smarter mobile devices that would be more aware of its owner’s location and preferences.
The focus of the company in 2003 was on developing a comprehensive and open platform for mobile devices. Through their efforts, Android Inc. has become one of the most recognizable and successful companies in the mobile space. With over 1 billion active users worldwide, Android Inc. has become synonymous with smart phones and tablets.
It is amazing to think that it all started with the founding of Android Inc. back in 2003. It just goes to show how far technology has come in such a short amount of time.
